1977 MCI 5C bus conversion
This is a two-axle conversion, one of the last of the 35-foot busses made by MCI. The 5C series buses are equipped with an Allison automatic transmission and the Detroit 6v-71 engine. This bus was built on a government contract for the Air Force and I acquired it for conversion after its air force service. The bus currently has less than 70,000 original miles. The conversion was done during a 5 year period from 2010-2015. after which the coach was moved to my winter site in a Florida RV park. The bus is currently on-site in Zephyrhills, Florida (35 miles NE of Tampa )
While this bus was an excellent shell for conversion, I have continued to upgrade equipment; new tires in 2016. All gauges and sending units have been replaced and starting batteries have been upgraded. I also have all maintenance and parts manuals for the Bus chassis and the Detroit engine as well as the manufactures information on all installed equipment. This bus was featured in the May 2016 issue of Bus Conversion Magazine. Bus conversion magazine is now available as an online publication at a very reasonable price, you can read a complete narrative of this conversion in the magazine and also access numerous reference materials on bus conversions. I can be reached at draungier @ gmail.com to respond to any questions that you may have on the conversion.
